Features:
- EMGD-1.10
- kernel-3.2.5
- gPodder
- Rhythmbox
- every program updated
- most of the standard features of PixieLive-2
Known bugs:
- Some warnings shown during boot and shutdown, had no time to correct them, most of them are due to the change to openrc
- No suspend to disk (hibernation) because tuxonice is not ready for kernel-3.2.5
- Some hardware support could be missing
Help is welcome:
- If you know how to fix some problems, mainly boot and shutdown errors please let me know, i will have really few time for the next two months
If you have hardware which should be included in the kernel let me know, i will need the output of "lspci; lspci -n; lsusb". It would be even better if you can tell me what to enable in the kernel configuration.
Alpha means under development, let me know how stable it is :-D

Hello !
Nice work, i think i'm able to help you with some of the errors you mentionned, i will download Pixie3 and test it
( i've an Asus EeePC 1101HA )
If you have time, can you tell me how have you done between emgd 1.10 and kernel 3.2.x ??
I'm building custom kernels for Ubuntu, Mint and Fedora and the dkms part of Emgd never compiled ...
It seems that Emgd 1.10 is not compatible with kernel 3.2.x ( 3.0.x and 3.1.x are fine )
Thanks, and keep in touch

@Niop:
it's just a matter of 2 includes to add to the sources, you can find the sources patched for 3.2.5 in /emgd_drm_3.2.5.tgz (in PixieLive-3-alpha, on the running system, or in the emgd-1.10-sources.lzm)

Well thanks Christian,
I just test it this night, and found the emgd_drm_3.2.5.tgz but haven't compare yet the differences
I also find that you use the xorg.conf version i posted on the ubuntu forum ;-)
gnome-mplayer and vlc don't show any display, but mplayer-vaapi works fine
i made some scripts ( posted on the ubuntu forum ) if you're interrested

@Christian:
Just tested a little deeper, gnome-mplayer works now, changing the video prefs, from vdpau to XV
but Vaapi don't works, i checked if va vaapi is selected, and video mode is on vaapi ( quit and restart gnome-mplayer )
I also checked for the 2 includes, and found one in emgd/drm/emgd_fbcon.c ( module.h )
the other ... maybe in the Makefile, to point to the right /usr/src/linux-3.2.xxx headers ?
thanks again for your great job

@Niop:
for some reason my anti spam filter trashes you comments, i got to restore them manually :-D
yes, xorg.conf is the one from Ubuntu forum, it works pretty well
the other modified file is emgd/drm/emgd_drv.c, same include added (#include <linux/module.h>)

Hey Christian! ;)
Been a while mate...
So now I'm back to gma500-team again and then I've confirmed your patch for emgd-dkms to implement 3.2.x kernel...
Just now I've updated our ppa with your patch.
Keep up your amazing work!! ;)
Cheers,
Tista

OK, tried... but the latest alpha still unsupport GMA600/oaktrail, Does Pixie only support GMA500 graphical card in future ??
But this system is the first one ever made me known why Linux stopped boot clearly, anyway thanks.

@littlewater:
yes, it only support gma500 (but also nvidia, ati, sis, and "standard" intel), not yet gma600, may be in future...

Hi Christian, I'm new to pixielive, thank you for this build. I tested it on a Dell mini 10n netbook. It boots fine, text mode is visible but graphics video is completely blank. I can shutdown the system with ctrl-alt-del. I then tested pixielive2 release and it works perfectly on my netbook. Can you suggest how to go about finding out what isn't working in this alpha build? Thanks.

@dell mini 10n:
possibly the default resolution indicated in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf is wrong for your 10'' device
i would try to remove all but 1024x600 editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf but i'm not sure,
i will search around and give you a better explanation

Great work Christian!
I'm running pixielive on my Fit-PC2 now, although I did need to adapt the xorg configuration to use port 2 instead of 4. For Fit-PC2 it would also be nice to have the RTL8169 network driver in the kernel.
If you'd like to have out-of-the-box support for the Fit-PC2 I can provide details and do testing for you.
One thing I've noticed is that the audio goes in and out of sync with .mkv files, while it plays just fine for mp4. Have you seen the same?

Hi,
Are you able to compile in the drivers for the Dell Mini 1010 wifi / lan?
That or could you please give me a rough idea how I could get them onto the usb key such that it can get on the network - that would give me a chance of getting other things running.
Apart from that, it is amazing - I am very pleased with it.
Thank you for your efforts!
